Bishop Dennis Sullivan has announced the appointment of six pastors, all effective July 1:

Father David J. Devlin, OSFS from Parochial Vicar, Our Lady Star of the Sea, Cape May to Pastor, Our Lady Star of the Sea, Cape May;

Father Michael J. Field from Pastor, Saint Bridget University Parish, Glassboro to Pastor, Catholic Community of the Holy Spirit, Mullica Hill for a six-year term;

Father Michael J. Goyette from Administrator, Our Lady of the Lakes, Collings Lakes to Pastor, Our Lady of the Lakes, Collings Lakes for a six-year term; and

Father Dabrowski, 62, has been pastor at Saint Simon Stock since 2010. Before that assignment, he spent eight years as pastor at Annunciation, Bellmawr. 

A graduate of Saint Mary’s Seminary, he was ordained on May 26, 1984. He has served as parochial vicar at Saint John of God, North Cape May, 1984-87; Saint Joseph, Somers Point, 1987-92; Sacred Heart, Mount Ephraim, 1992-98; and Saint Thomas, Brigantine, 1998-2002.

Father David J. Devlin, OSFS, 70, has served at Our Lady Star of the Sea since 2015 as parochial vicar, his first assignment in the Diocese of Camden.  Ordained on May 21, 1977, he studied at DeSales University in Washington, D.C.

Father de Leon, A.M., 43, was born in Quezon City, Philippines, and studied for the seminary at Christ the King Mission Seminary there. Ordained on March 25, 2003 in the Philippines, he began his ministry in the Diocese of Camden in 2014 at Saint Andrew the Apostle.

Father Field, 65, has been pastor in Glassboro since 2016. Ordained on May 29, 1982, he studied at Drew University, Madison, and Immaculate Conception, Mahwah, both in New Jersey.

He has also served as pastor at Saint Ann, Wildwood, 2009-10; Queen of Heaven, Cherry Hill, 2005-09; and Saint Joseph, Swedesboro, 2002-05.

From 2010-15, he was a part of a Team of Priests, in solidum, at Notre Dame de la Mer Parish, Wildwood. 

He is a former director of the RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) for the Diocese of Camden.

Father Goyette, 47, has been administrator at Our Lady of the Lakes since last year. Before that assignment, he served as parochial vicar at Saint Simon Stock, 2017-18; Saint Gianna Beretta Molla Parish, Northfield, 2016-17; and Saint Bridget, Glassboro, 2015-16. From 2013-15, he was Director of Catholic Identity at Camden Catholic High School, Cherry Hill. 

Ordained on May 29, 2004, he studied at Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary in Wynnewood, Pa.

Father Kryszkiewicz, 54, has served at Holy Trinity since 2016, first as parochial vicar, then administrator. He was pastor at Saint Joseph, Camden, from 2008-14, and administrator at Saint Casimir, Woodbine, from 2006-08. 

Born in Poland, he studied at the University of Poznan, and was ordained a priest of the Diocese of Camden on Aug. 28, 1993.

Father Barcellona, 64, has been pastor of Our Lady of Perpetual Help since 2017. He was ordained on May 20, 1995.

He served as pastor at Christ the Redeemer, Atco, 2010-17, and Our Lady of Grace, Somerdale, 2005-10. Other diocesan assignments include time as executive director of Youth and Young Adult Ministry, and director of the Saint Pius X Retreat House in Blackwood. He was parochial vicar at Immaculate Conception, Bridgeton, 1995-2000, and Assumption, Atco, 2000-02.

Father Bartoloma, 44, has served as Chancellor and Director of Pastoral Planning since 2014. He was ordained on May 24, 2003.

He was parochial vicar of Queen of Heaven, Cherry Hill, 2003-05, and Our Lady of Lourdes, Glassboro, 2005-08. He has been active in various diocesan ministries, including the Tribunal as Director of the Marian Commission.

Father Byerley, 56, has been pastor at Saint Rose of Lima since 2009. Previously, he served as pastor of Saint Joseph, Swedesboro, 2005-09.

He was ordained July 3, 1993. He was a teacher and Director of Guidance at Paul VI High School, Haddonfield, and parochial vicar at Saint Patrick, Woodbury, 1994-98.

Father Caparas, 42, has served as principal at Saint Joseph High School for the past four years. Before that, he was Director of Catholic Identity at Gloucester Catholic High School from 2013-16, and pastor of Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament, Newfield, from 2011-13.

He was ordained on May 20, 2006, and was parochial vicar at Queen of the Angels, Landisville, 2006-09, and Saint Peter Merchantville, 2009-11.

Father Cherubini, 62, has been at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton since 2006. He was ordained on May 24, 1985.

He has served as president at Holy Spirit High School since 2008. Previously he was vice-principal at Gloucester Catholic High School.

He was parochial vicar at Saint Stephen, Pennsauken, 1985-88; Saint Mary, Cherry Hill, 1988-92; and Saint Bernadette, Northfield, 1992-98.

Father de la Pena, 54, was ordained April 4, 1992, in the Philippines. After 11 years as a priest in his home country, he came to the United States in 2003 to serve as parochial vicar at Saint Thomas the Apostle, Brigantine. 

Incardinated into the Diocese of Camden in 2011, he has served as part-time parochial vicar and part-time chaplain in Cape Regional Medical Center since 2012. In 2015, Father de la Pena was appointed spiritual director of the Diocese’s Filipino Apostolate.

Father Grover, 64, has been pastor at Saint Clare of Assisi since it was established in 2010, and previously served as pastor of parishes that were merged to form it: he was named pastor of Saint Michael, Gibbstown, in 2005, and administrator, and later pastor, of Saint John, Paulsboro, in 2008.

He was pastor of Holy Name of Jesus Parish, Mullica Hill, 2002-05, and parochial vicar of Mary Mother of the Church, Bellmawr, 1983-86; Holy Rosary, Cherry Hill, 1986-89; Saint Stephen, Pennsauken, 1989-94; Saint Mary, Cherry Hill, 1994-2000; and Saint Margaret, Woodbury Heights, 2000-02.

He was ordained May 28, 1983.

Father Jazon, 50, has been at Saint Teresa of Calcutta as administrator for the past year. A native of Haiti, he was ordained on May 19, 2007 as a priest of the Diocese of Camden.

He was administrator of Saint Monica Parish, Atlantic City, 2010-15, and parochial vicar of Assumption, Pomona, 2007-10, and Notre Dame de la Mer, Wildwood, 2015-19. He was active with the Haitian community.

Father Kelly, 64, has been pastor of Mary, Mother of Mercy since 2014. He previously served as parochial vicar at Immaculate Conception Parish, Bridgeton, 2009-10; Parish of the Holy Cross, Bridgeton, 2010-12; and Saint Damien, 2012-14.

He was ordained Sept. 17, 2005.

Father Namiotka, 59, has been pastor of Holy Angels Parish since 2017. He previously served as pastor of Saint Joseph, Somers Point, 2011-17; Saint Mary, Malaga, 2009-11; and Queen of Angels, Landisville, 2005-11.

He has also been heavily involved in Catholic education, serving at Saint Joseph High School, Hammonton, 1991-94, as a teacher and assistant principal; and then Sacred Heart High School, Vineland, where he was vice principal 1997-98, principal 1998-2008 and president 2008-13.

He was ordained May 16, 1987.

Father Newton, 61, has been pastor of Christ Our Light since it was established in 2009. He was pastor of Saint Peter Celestine from 2004 until it was merged as part of Christ Our Light. He was Vicar for Human Services for the diocese, 2001-04.

He was ordained May 28, 1988.

He was parochial vicar at Saint Jude Parish, Blackwood, 1988-91; Incarnation, Mantua, 1993-98; and Saint Agnes, Blackwood, 1998-2001.

Father Picinic, 51, has been pastor of Holy Family since 2014. He was parochial vicar at Saint Joseph Parish, Woodstown, 2008-10; Catholic Community of the Holy Spirit, Mullica Hill, 2010-12; and Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Galloway, 2010-14.

He was ordained Aug. 13, 2005, and was a teacher and chaplain at Bishop Eustace, Pennsauken, 2005-07.

Father Ramos, 43, entered the Disciples of Mary in the Philippines in 1994 and was ordained on Oct. 4, 2003. In the Philippines he was assistant formator for the order, 2003-06, and a novice director and youth director in the Prelature of Infanta, 2006-09. He came to the United States and served as California State University – Fullerton in 2010 and has been involved in parish work since 2011.

Father Rapposelli, 56, has been administrator of Saints Peter and Paul Parish, Turnersville, since 2019. He was parochial vicar at Saint Lawrence, Lindenwold, 1998-2003; Our Lady of the Angels, Cape May Court House, 2006-11; Our Lady of Hope, Blackwood, 2011-16; Holy Trinity, Margate, 2016-17; and Infant Jesus, 2017-19. He served as coordinator of marriage preparation of the Family Life Office and as chaplain of Wildwood Catholic High School.

He was ordained May 16, 1998.

Father Rivera, 39, has been administrator of Saint Mary of Mount Carmel since 2019 and previously served there as parochial vicar for a year, He was parochial vicar at Saint Peter Parish, Merchantville, 2011-13, and Parish of the Holy Cross, Bridgeton, 2013-18.

He was ordained July 10, 2010.

Father Rossi, 39, has been administrator at Saint Bridget since 2019. He was Director of Catholic Identity at Paul VI High School, Haddonfield, 2013-19, and parochial vicar of Saint Charles Borromeo Parish, Sicklerville, 2010-13.

He was ordained May 16, 2009.

Father Thomas, 38, has been pastor of the Parish of Saint Monica since 2015. He previously served as parochial vicar of Christ Our Light, Cherry Hill, 2010-14, and Our Lady of Guadalupe, Lindenwold, 2014-15.

He was ordained May 22, 2010.

Father William J. Kelly is appointed dean of Deanery 5, Cape May and Cumberland Counties, effective July 1. Father Kelly continues as pastor in Saint Brendan the Navigator, Avalon.

Father James H. King is appointed part-time director of the Chaplaincy Program for the Diocese of Camden, effective July 21. Father King continues as chaplain to Saint Mary’s Center/Saint Mary’s Villa, Cherry Hill, and in residence at Saint Mary Parish, Cherry Hill.

Father Mathias I. Kumar, OSFS, from parochial vicar in the Diocese of Camden to outside the Diocese, effective Aug. 31.

Father Piotr Szamocki is appointed dean of Deanery 1, West Camden County, effective July 1. Father Szamocki continues as pastor of Saint Joachim, Bellmawr.

A dean is the priest responsible for a number of parishes within a geographic region.

Bishop Sullivan announces the retirements of two pastors, effective July 1.

Msgr. William A. Hodge, Pastor of Saint Mary, Gloucester City.

Father Ernest R. Soprano, Pastor of Saint John Neumann, North Cape May.

Msgr. William A. Hodge

Born in Atlantic City, Msgr. Hodge, 74, attended Glassboro State College (now Rowan University); Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary, Wynnewood, Pa., and the University of Dayton, Ohio. He was ordained May 25, 1974, by Bishop George H. Guilfoyle.

His first assignment was as Parochial Vicar at Saint Francis de Sales Parish in Barrington (1974-76).

Other assignments as Parochial Vicar included Saint Raymond, Villas (1976-77); Resurrection, Marmora (1977-81); Saint Lucy, Blue Anchor (1981-83); Saint Vincent Pallotti, Haddon Township (1983-90); Saint Edward, Pine Hill (1990-91), and Saint Patrick, Woodbury (1991-94).

In 1998, he became Pastor of Saint Nicholas of Tolentine Parish in Atlantic City after serving as Administrator for a year. In 2015, he was appointed Pastor in Gloucester City. He previously served as Administrator of Saint James, Penns Grove (1994-1997), and Saint Michael, Atlantic City (2007-2008).

Msgr. Hodge has also served as director of the Marian Commission and the World Apostolate of Fatima for the Diocese of Camden, was chaplain at Ancora Psychiatric Hospital, and taught religion at Wildwood Catholic High School in the late 1970s.

Father Ernest R. Soprano

Father Soprano, 70, studied at Immaculate Conception in Darlington, N.J., and was ordained in 1979 in Mantua by Bishop George H. Guilfoyle.

In addition to serving in Saint John Neumann since 2010, he has been Pastor at Our Lady of Victories, Landisville (1996-2000), and Saint Francis of Assisi, Vineland (2000-2009).

In 2009, he became Parochial Vicar of Saint John of God, North Cape May, and soon after became its Administrator, and later the Priest Convener for the merger of Saint John of God and Saint Raymond, Villas, into what would become Saint John Neumann Parish.

Father Soprano has also been Administrator of Saint Michael, Gibbstown (1987-1993). He was Parochial Vicar at Christ the King, Haddonfield (1979-1981, 1993-1996); Saint Thomas More, Cherry Hill (1982-1985); and Saint Teresa, Runnemede (1985-1987).
